Hazel Washington

Alex’s father and grandfather, well, they grew up in a time where you might not have always had control over everything. But the things you do have control over, do those things well. The things that you have, take care of them, treat your neighbors well. Having all of those businesses in McGee anchored them as the household that took care of themselves, their family, and everybody else.

Grandmother Hazel's home was always open, because if you needed something to eat, you knew you could get it there. If you needed a ride to go somewhere, if you needed your hair done. And it definitely got instilled that the things that you do every day, do them well. Because you represent yourself, and you also represent Grandmother Hazel and Papa back home.
